Palace Lifts Suspension of PCSO Lotto Operations

Malacanang announced on Tuesday night that suspension of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes’ (PCSO) lotto operations has been lifted “effective immediately”.

“The suspension on the lotto operations is lifted,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in an ANC interview late Tuesday night.

Panelo however clarified that other PCSO regulated games such as STL and Keno will remain suspended indefinitely.

When asked about any plans to compensate workers employed in lotto outlets for their lost income due to the temporary closure, Panelo said the President is thinking of ways “how to respond to that situation”.

In the same interview, Panelo also clarified his earlier statement saying Filipinos “are used to being poor” by emphasizing that Filipinos “are very resilient and that when[ever] adverse circumstances comes, Filipinos can cope with it.”

The President earlier suspended the lotto and gaming operations of PCSO due to alleged massive corruption in the agency.
